Start-up Business Assistance

The Economic Development Alliance of St. Clair County operates a local Small Business and Technology Development Center (SBTDC). This federally funded program provides no cost business management consulting at a local level to assist people interested in starting a business, as well as assisting existing business with less than 500 employees.

On a daily basis, a certified counselor helps businesses by offering assistance in the following categories:


• Attorney and CPA Recommendations
• Business Expansion
• Business Plan Preparation
• Client Referrals to Experts with the SBTDC
• Consulting on Electronic Commerce
• Export Assistance
• Loan Proposal Packaging
• Market Research
• Preparation of Financial Projections
• Production of Marketing Materials
• Site Selection

The SBTDC program also links resources of federal and local governments, community colleges, universities and workforce development programs with the private sector to produce practical solutions to business concerns.
